Accordingly, the emulation movement has been implemented comprehensively and regularly, in combination with the patriotic emulation movements in the locality.

They have helped people in 14 border communes reclaim hundreds of hectares of rice fields, yielding 3.5 tons per hectare. Therefore, the life local ethnic minority groups have improved.

According to the command’s Deputy Political Commissar Senior Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung, since the “Building cultural life in residential areas” campaign was launched, the Quang Nam provincial Border Guard Command has actively instructed local people to build a cultural commune model. They have also joined local festivals and mobilized local people to eradicate unsound customs.

Annually, the unit organizes many meaningful programs, such as “Border spring warms up people’s hearts,” “Whole-People Border Festive Day,” among others. It has also mobilized more than VND 16 billion from units and sponsors; offered 8,707 gifts, eight tons of rice; handed over 102 gratitude and “Great Unity” houses to needy people, to name but a few.

In response to the “Troops joining hands to build new-style rural areas,” and “Troops joining hands to support the poor, no one is left behind,” emulation movements, border troops, in coordination with local authorities, have presented gifts and provided free health check-ups to poor people, supported them to build gratitude and great unity houses, well implemented social policy work, among others.

After five years of implementation, the Quang Nam provincial Border Guard Command has been honored by the Ministry of National Defense and Vietnam Border Guard Command.
