The enhanced cold air has caused the temperature in mountainous areas of Nghe An province to drop. The severe and damaging cold has affected the life, work, and production activities of people and forces in border areas.

The working teams have collaborated with local party committees, authorities, and organizations to promote information dissemination and advise locals to limit outdoor activities, present blankets and clothes to elderly people and children, guide locals to protect their animals, cover barns to prevent cold wind, light fires, and prepare reserve food for them.

According to Commanding Officer of Na Ngoi Border Post Major Nguyen Trung Kien, the cold spell is forecast to continue in the next few days, the unit has applied different measures to ensure that the cold weather will not affect troops’ activities and observance of combat readiness. The unit has also updated locals on developments of weather, thus taking suitable response measures to minimize losses.
