Over the past time, the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels of the VCG have led and directed agencies and units to grasp Ho Chi Minh’s thought on patriotic emulation, strictly implement the law of the State, the directives and resolutions of the Party, the Central Military Commission (CMC), the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the guidance of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) on emulation and commendation work and the "determined to win" movement, meeting the requirements and successfully completing assigned tasks.

In detail, the agencies and units have closely coordinated with other forces to follow, forecast, and evaluate the situation at sea; given recommendations to the CMC and MND on policies and measures to settle down arising issues at sea; prevent foreign vessels from infringing on Vietnam’s waters; resolutely protect national sovereignty and interests, maintain a peaceful and stable environment, and cooperative and friendly relations with other countries for economic development.

Meanwhile, they have collaborated with other forces to raise the efficiency in conducting patrols and inspections, maintaining law enforcement, and ensuring security and safety in Vietnam’s waters; prevent and combat different types of crime related to drugs, smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.

In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Binh required the Vietnam Coast Guard to strictly implement the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s law, the resolutions and directives of the CMC and MND on enhancing education and dissemination to raise troops’ awareness of and responsibility for emulation work, while the contents and targets of emulation and the organization of the emulation congress should closely follow the political task implementation of the unit.

In addition, the unit should focus on giving advice to the CMC and MND on policies and laws on protecting national security, order and safety at sea; pro-actively coordinate with other forces to resolutely safeguard sovereignty, sovereign rights, jurisdiction and security and safety over national sea and islands, and combat crime, violations, and illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities.
