General Nguyen Tan Cuong directs live-fire exercise in Military Region 4
PANO - Military Region 4’s Exercise Steering Committee conducted a live-fire field exercise for its units on October 30. General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, attended and directed the exercise.
The exercise was conducted in line with the directive of the Minister of National Defense. From October 26 to 29, the military region completed the command-and-staff exercise and various field components strictly according to plan.
The live-fire exercise was conducted at Division 324’s training ground and transmitted live via an online video system to four locations across Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa provinces. Participating units maintained tight coordination among various forces, services, and combat arms, executing multiple combat scenarios of diverse scales and forms.
The exercise assessed officers' and soldiers' command capabilities, combat coordination, and proficiency in operating weapons and equipment, while helping improve training quality and combat readiness to meet mission requirements in the new situation.
Speaking at the debriefing of the exercise, General Nguyen Tan Cuong commended the participating forces for their sense of responsibility and praised agencies and units for their pro-active preparations and successful execution of all planned components. These included shifting to combat readiness, preparing for combat operations, live-fire exercises with live and blank ammunition, and the use of explosives at various locations.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the forces overcame difficulties, conducted training and exercises seriously, and completed all assigned tasks, meeting the objectives and requirements.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong instructed Military Region 4 to conduct a thorough review of the exercise and objectively assess the results to improve training and exercise quality in the coming period. He also urged agencies, units, and military academies and schools across the armed forces to study the lessons learned and apply relevant experience to their training and exercises, as well as incorporate appropriate content into their teaching programs.
