The event was also attended by Major General Nguyen Hung Thang, Deputy Director and Chief-of-Staff of the General Department of Logistics.

Addressing the conference, Colonel Nguyen Duc Sy, Chief of the Department of Logistics under the Vietnam Border Guard Command, said that the “Building and managing  regular, green, clean, and beautiful barracks” emulation movement received much care from the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels as well as strong response from the border troops.

Thanks to the emulation movement, barracks maintenance has been implemented seriously and the defense land management and basic construction work have improved significantly, while barracks’ landscapes have been beautified.

Also, the spiritual and material life of troops have been improved significantly, contributing to making soldiers stay close to the units. The troops have actively built their barracks, observed the military discipline, contributing to well managing and protecting the national sovereignty and border security in the current context.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Nguyen Duc Manh applauded the border guard force’s achievements over the past five years. He pointed out several shortcomings and required all relevant units to address them as soon as possible. The senior officer also asked the units to further promote the role and responsibility of the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels, disseminate the contents of the emulation movement, and promote creativeness and activeness among troops during the implementation of the movement.

General Manh urged affiliated units to well manage defense land, monitor basic construction projects, and make use of the local support to build their barracks as regular, green, clean, and beautiful ones.
