Troops cleaning up at Nhon Hoa Secondary School in An Nhon town, Binh Dinh
Early December 20, troops of Air Defense Brigade 573 of Military Region 5 arrived to Nhon Hoa Secondary School in Nhon Hoa ward, Binh Dinh province’s An Nhon town to assist teachers in cleaning up mud and re-arranging furniture.
According to Senior Colonel Huynh Hai, Deputy Political Commissar of the brigade, since December 17, the unit has tidied up two schools in the town. “We will continue this effort until local schools could welcome their pupils back,” Hai confirmed.
For her part, teacher Tran Linh Nha from Nhon Hoa Secondary School said that without the troops’ support, it will take the teachers and pupils more weeks to resume their study.
Meanwhile, Artillery Brigade 572 promptly removed dozens of cubic meters of soil and stone that were hindering traffic in Binh Dinh province’s districts of Hoai An, Phu My and Phu Cat. It also distributed 500 instant noodle boxes to people isolated by the floods.
The same day, Regiment 925 of Division 372 under the Air Defense-Air Force Service transported 1,500 sets of clothing, 1,500 notebooks, 1,100 ball-point pens, 80 textbooks to people in Phu Cat district, An Nhon town.

In Quang Nam province, more than 100 troops from Regiment 885 and signal and reconnaissance companies of the Quang Nam Provincial Military Command moved to Cam Kim commune, Hoi An city to help locals dredge canals, cleaned villages and cleared traffic.
Despite strong winds and rains, nearly 300 troops of Divisions 315 and 307 of Military Region 5 headed to Quang Ngai province to re-build houses, tidy up schools and health stations in Mo Duc, Duc Pho and Nghia Hanh districts.
In Nha Trang city of Khanh Hoa province, some 200 troops from Khanh Hoa provincial Military Command, Border Guard, Division 305 teamed up with relevant forces to manage to turn each brick and stone to search for remains of three deceased and one missing in a landslide in Phuoc Loc village, Phuoc Dong commune.
Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Political Commissar of Military Region 5, said that the unit will exert all efforts to assist locals in overcoming consequences of the recent flooding. More vehicles will be deployed for the work. The unit will also provide flood-hit victims with food and medicines.
Timely support from army units to people in flood-devastated localities helped brighten the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and tighten the military-civilian ties.
