Celebration activities for GS’s foundation day continue
PANO - General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff (GS) and Deputy Defense Minister, asked for continuous implementation of planned activities in celebration of the GS’s 80th founding anniversary (September 7, 1945 - 2025).
The request was made during a meeting of the Steering Board of the Celebration Activities of the event held on August 11.
At the meeting, reports stressed the comprehensive implementation of celebration activities according to schedule. Specifically, information dissemination about the GS’s 80 years of development has been strengthened. A documentary film and TV-series about the GS are being made while a knowledge contest has been concluded with nearly 31,000 participating troops and people. Many activities, such as emulation and reward movements, cultural, sport exchanges have been held. Preparations for a scientific seminar, gatherings and main celebrations have been made thoroughly.
Notably, the GS in collaboration with localities nationwide have already constructed 75 great unity and 80 gratitude houses for the needy, built a kindergarten and a multifunctional room for a secondary school in Dinh Hoa, Thai Nguyen and upgraded war cemeteries, relic sites, among others.
Highly praising relevant agencies and units for their pro-active implementation of the celebration activities, Gen. Cuong asked them to continue their remaining tasks, particularly the completion of the documentary and film about the GS, the organization of a scientific seminar on the growth of the GS, the celebration ceremony and the reception of the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title.
