At the Whole Military Politico-Military Conference 2021 |
The conference aimed to review the military-defense task performance of the whole military this year and map out orientations and missions for next year as well as launch the “Determined-to-Win” emulation movement for 2022.
General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the CMC and Minister of National Defense chaired the event.
The conference evaluated that this year, the CMC and MND have led the whole military to overcome all difficulties and challenges, complete all tasks reaching all set targets, even with outstanding results.
Attentively, defense agencies and military units have regularly kept a close watch on and made precise forecast of situational developments, and given timely suggestions to the Party and the State to handle situations to avoid being taken aback in a passive position.
The CMC and MND have closely worked with ministries and departments to effectively carry out strategies and projects on defense-security, reported to the Politburo to promulgate a project to strengthen national defense and security potential coupled with socio-economic development, clearly demonstrating strategic thinking and vision for the Fatherland construction and defense task in the current period.

The whole military has strictly observed combat readiness regulations, strictly controlled the air, sea, border, and land territory and cyberspace while implementing three breakthrough tasks outlined in the 11th Military Party Congress’s resolution, and improving training quality to adapt to COVID-19 situation.
This year, troops have been present in dangerous and critical places, assisted locals to prevent natural disasters, overcome consequences of flooding, actively engaged in search and rescue missions.
Notably, the fight against COVID-19, the military has been among the key forces, contributing to the national efforts of pushing back the pandemic, saving lives of the people.
In addition, the whole military have applied comprehensive solutions to build politically-, ideologically-, morally-, organizationally-strong Military Party Organization, strictly punished those violating State laws and military disciplines, and effectively oriented troops’ thinking.
Attentively, the military has flexibly, creatively, and effectively performed defense diplomacy, actively participated in the United Nations peacekeeping operations, and achieved high results at the International Army Games 2021.

Next year, the task of military building, defense consolidation, and Fatherland protection has a new development. Therefore, the CMC and MND will continue to direct the whole military to effectively implement strategies, resolutions, conclusions, projects and policies related to the military-defense realm. The military will also team with relevant departments and localities to bring into play synergy, mobilize all resources, build a strong all people’s defense posture, improve quality of defensive areas and performance of militia and self-defense forces, among others, contributing to upholding political security, order and safety throughout the country.
The military will continue to closely manage the air, sea, border, and land territory, and cyberspace and key areas and tackle situations in a timely manner. Additionally, they will bring into play their key role in natural disaster prevention and control, disaster relief, search and rescue operations.
Other missions the military will do are building strong and healthy party organizations with high combat power and prevent “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” inside party cells; actively fighting wrongful and inimical views of hostile forces; consolidating the Party’s ideological foundation in the military; ensuring good conditions of weapons and technical equipment for missions; developing defense industry; combating corruption, negative phenomena, and wastefulness; speeding up administrative reform; developing e-government and digital transformation in the MND.

Strengthening international cooperation and defense diplomacy, improving efficiency of bilateral and multilateral defense ties, boosting partnership with neighboring countries and ASEAN member states in border protection and management, and other countries in COVID-19 fight, war legacy settlement, as well as actively participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations are other important tasks of the military in 2022.
Addressing the conference, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke highly of the military’s achievements gained in 2021.
The State leader applauded troops in the whole military for their great effort and the CMC and MND for the effective performance of their role as advisors of the Party and the State in national defense and security affairs.
According to Vietnam News Agency, President Phuc hailed the MND for mobilizing the largest ever forces over the past five decades to work on the front-line of the combat against the COVID-19 pandemic recently.

Regarding targets and tasks for 2022, the State leader urged the CMC and MND to improve the forecast and consultancy work, closely combine national defense and security with external affairs, and enhance international cooperation in this regard.
For the pandemic combat and natural disaster response, the leader said greater efforts are needed in mass mobilization and coordination among ministries, agencies and localities.
The military should take the lead in the fight against wrongful and hostile viewpoints in the cultural-ideological front and in the safeguarding of the Party’s ideological foundation within the military, he said.
He also requested the military to intensify the fight against corruption, strictly observe Party and military disciplines and strengthen internal solidarity.
The State leader expressed his strong belief that with the spirit of solidarity and democracy, and high sense of responsibility, the CMC, MND and the entire military will outstandingly fulfill their tasks.
On the occasion of the 77th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22), the President extended greetings to all officers and soldiers in the military.
