Present at the event were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Prof. Vu Van Hien, Deputy Head of the Theoretical Council of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Major General Nguyen Ba Duong, Head of the Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities.

Speaking at the conference, General Nghia held that globalization, international integration, knowledge economy development, growth of Industry 4.0 and the increasingly mutual benefits of the world powers have laid impacts on developing nations, including Vietnam. Without a thorough study of the situation, Vietnam will not be able to address unexpected situations without proper strategies, he affirmed.

Reports at the seminar clarified these powers’ relations with positive and negative influences on the world and the region in general and Vietnam in particular. Several reports generalized critical emerging issues, which should be tackled effectively and promptly, and discussed experience of Vietnam and other countries in the field.

In addition, the reports also mentioned other issues such as socio-economic development, the national synergy, and the national defense and security, to name but a few. Delegates agreed that strengthening and improving the efficiency of Vietnam’s cooperation with each of the powers as well as reinforcing the ASEAN’s solidarity and promoting the association’s role in the region were among practical solutions for the country in the current context.
