On March 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a decision to issue a project on organizing activities in celebration of the VPA’s 80th anniversary of the foundation day (December 22, 1944 - 2023) and the 35th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 - 2024).

On June 15, the MND issued Plan No.2006/KH-BQP on the coordination among functional ministries, sectors, and branches in carrying out the project. Meanwhile, units in the whole military actively built plans and fulfilled assigned tasks. The VPA’s General Staff and General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) requested affiliated units to effectively and strictly conduct the project.
Units in the whole military so far have conducted many specific activities according to the project’s contents. Particularly, the GDP’s Department of Political Education and Information prepared artistic festival about the whole people’s defense which is scheduled to take place this fourth quarter. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Television and the Military Broadcasting Center are producing documentary films about Uncle Ho’s soldiers. Furthermore, the GDP’s affiliated units are running a program to support houses for 100 needy and policy households in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province, build 555 gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries and national contributors, among others.

At the conference, functional ministries and sectors spoke highly of the preparation and coordination of the MND in implementing the project, while pointing out other issues related to this task.
Speaking at the event, GDP’s Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet affirmed that the project aims to disseminate and educate about the 80-year journey of the VPA’s construction and development, the traditions of the Vietnamese people, promote patriotism; and highlight the achievements of 35 years of the whole people’s defense festive day. These activities contribute to enhancing trust and boosting responsibility of the whole political system, Party, people and military in building a firm people’s defense posture, in line with a firm people’s security, thereby building a revolutionary, standardized, elite, and modernized military, meeting all tasks requirements of Fatherland protection in the current context.

Concluding the conference, Gen. Luong requested functional forces should closely team up together to implement the project. Besides, military units should be well aware of their assigned missions so as to actively make preparation in all fields, and ensure the success of the event with absolute safety.
