At the meeting, delegates recalled the tradition of the VPA’s General Staff and expressed their deep gratitude to heroic martyrs, beneficiary families and generations of personnel who have contributed to building up the unit and to the country in the national defense and construction cause.
In his speech, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong briefed delegates on international issues and domestic situations related to the military’s tasks. He emphasized that the VPA’s General Staff has actively and pro-actively studied, forecast, and evaluated current situations to promptly make recommendations to the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Defense Ministry in order to direct strategic guidelines and address any circumstances concerning military-defense missions, contributing to safeguarding the country.

At the same time, the VPA’s General Staff has also well conducted personnel work, joined hands with the Public Security Ministry to maintain social order and security, and participated in natural disaster response and search and rescue mission.
Meanwhile, the VPA’s General Staff has studied and applied experiences from previous wars to further boosting training quality, invested in weaponry improvement projects, regularly hosted competitions to raise troops’ competence, and paid attention to troops’ discipline observance.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong hoped that generals and generations of staff of the VPA’s General Staff would further contribute to the unit’s task performance in the coming time.
