Speaking at the event, General Van applauded and congratulated the Department of Political Affairs on achievements over the past time. The unit’s troops have always upheld the sound tradition of the military in general and the GDP in particular, embraced and strictly implemented the Party's guidelines and State's policies in military-defense missions, and raised a high sense of responsibility in undertaking and fulfilling assigned tasks.

He requested the department to further carry out resolutions and directives of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Defense Ministry, and the GDP. The department must also pay due attention to the Party and political work within the GDP’s organs and boost the realization of the movements “Learning and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and lifestyle” and “Promoting traditions, contributing talent, deserving to be Uncle Ho soldiers.”

In addition, the department was also tasked to focus on building strong and healthy Party organizations and on fighting the degradation of political thought, ethics, and lifestyle, as well as manifestations of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” among its cadres and Party members.

Authorized by the State President, General Van handed over the order to the department.
