Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) General Nguyen Trong Nghia attended the event.
In the first six months (H1) of this year, the Naval Service focused their leadership and direction on the comprehensive implementation of assigned missions, with many tasks completed to an outstanding standard.
Notable achievements included strictly implementing resolutions and directives on military and national defense issued by higher levels; pro-actively maintaining a firm grasp of developments and emerging situations across Vietnam’s maritime areas; and promptly advising the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on effective responses to various situations, ensuring strategic objectives were firmly safeguarded.

The Naval Service also closely coordinated with relevant agencies and units during the nationwide peak campaign against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Training and education were directed in an effective manner. Efforts were focused on strengthening the leadership capacity and combat effectiveness of Party committees and Party organizations throughout the service’s Party organization. Policy work, mass mobilization, and the implementation of grassroots democracy regulations saw numerous innovations and practical results. Logistics and technical support were effectively ensured for both routine and unexpected missions. International integration and defense external affairs were carried out proactively, flexibly, and effectively, in line with the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State, and the military.
In his remarks, General Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged and highly appreciated the Naval Service's achievements in H1 of 2026, particularly its performance in maintaining combat readiness, firmly safeguarding Vietnam's maritime sovereignty, participating in search and rescue operations, supporting fishermen, and promoting the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
The GDP chief emphasized that the task of safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands places exceptionally high demands on the Naval Service. He stressed that the service should continue improving the quality of monitoring, researching, assessing, and forecasting foreign activities in Vietnam's maritime areas, among others.
General Nghia directed the service to continue implementing the force restructuring policy toward a more elite, more streamlined, and stronger organization. He also called for the pro-active organization of information dissemination activities marking major national holidays and significant historical events in 2026, while further promoting the Determined-to-win Emulation Movement across the service.
Meanwhile, the service should effectively implement policies and welfare programs for personnel within the service; promote gratitude activities; and carried out defense external activities to enhance practical and substantive cooperation with foreign navies, particularly those of neighboring countries and major powers, to name but a few.
