New headquarters of Vietnam Coast Guard Command opened
PANO – General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo Member, Deputy - Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister, on August 25 visited the Vietnam Coast Guard Command on the occasion of its 19th founding anniversary (August 28, 1998) and attended its new headquarters’ opening ceremony in Tay Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi. The Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics, Lieutenant General Do Can, and Lieutenant General Le Quy Dam, Director of the General Technical Department, also joined the event.

At the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Dam, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG), briefed delegates on the unit’s construction and development in the past. Especially, the Defense Minister, on June 25, 2015, signed Decision No. 2467/QD-BQP on approving a project to build a new headquarters of the Coast Guard. The new building was completed on an area of 4.9ha of a compound of 7.6ha, at a cost of VND 700 billion.
Speaking at the event, General Lich praised the unit’s great efforts and achievements over the past years and asked them to continue promoting their tradition and overcoming difficulties in the time to come. He also asked the unit to strictly maintain combat readiness posture at all levels, and be ready for any eventualities. In addition, the Coast Guard should provide recommendations for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on marine policies.
