The ceremony drew the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Lieutenant General Ngo Minh Tien, representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7, and units stationed in the area.

Previously, the MMU assigned forces of Military Hospital 103 to the deployment of the field hospital. After a week, the field hospital has been put into operation and is ready to receive COVID-19 patients for treatment.

The hospital now has 450 beds, including 50 for intensive care, and is set to expand to 500 beds with 80 intensive care beds to accommodate COVID-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City. With eight clinical, sub-clinical, fully-equipped departments, and well-trained medical staff, it is in charge of treating severe patients.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam hailed the efforts of relevant forces in the operation of the hospital, hoping that the hospital would contribute to quickly preventing the spread of the pandemic in the city, bringing life back to normal.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong took in the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, asking the hospital’s medical staff to have high sense of responsibility, overcome difficulties to complete all assigned missions. Besides, they should also take good care of COVID-19 patients while curbing the spread of the disease with absolute safety.

The establishment of the field hospital for infectious diseases will provide more treatment for COVID-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City, allowing the city to quickly control the situation.

On behalf of the hospital’s staff, Major General Tran Viet Tien, Director of Military Hospital 103, affirmed that they would do their utmost to best perform their noble tasks.
