Upholding the revolutionary traditions of Tien Giang, the province’s Party Organization, authorities, troops, and people have overcome all difficulties and striven to gain comprehensive and significant achievements.

Particularly, the province has paid more attention to implementing policies for national contributors. At present, the province has more than 132,000 policy beneficiaries and national contributors, including more than 35,000 war martyrs, over 5,980 heroic Vietnamese mothers (168 still live), more than 11,600 wounded and over 2,430 sick soldiers, over 2,390 former prisoners of war, and more than 2,000 revolutionaries exposed to toxic chemicals.

At the meeting, General Can presented the gifts of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to 70 national contributors from Tien Giang province and inquired after them on the occasion of their visit to Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and MND.

On the occasion, Gen. Can informed the delegation of the whole military’s activities over the past time, especially policies for troops and their families and gratitude work.

Since 2013, military units have provided financial assistance for the construction of more than 8,600 houses, presented 6,400 savings books, looked after 2,879 heroic Vietnamese mothers, and giving ambulances and medical supplies to convalescent centers for wounded soldiers, among others.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27) this year, the whole military launched an emulation movement to pay gratitude to national contributors, supported the construction of 1,769 gratitude houses, handed over 806 savings books to policy beneficiaries and national contributors, provided free medical examination, health counseling, and medicines for more than 13,000 people.

Meanwhile, military units sewed silk ensembles and presented gifts to 1,489 heroic Vietnamese mothers who are being taken care of by units and provided medical equipment for five convalescent centers for national contributors, to name but a few.

These activities have contributed to the whole Party and people’s efforts in taking care of policy beneficiaries and national contributors while educating troops, especially youngsters, on gratitude traditions of the Vietnamese people.
