At the meeting, an official of Soc Trang province held that over the past years, the local Party Committee, authorities, people and armed forces have overcome difficulties to gain considerable achievements.

Reportedly, the province has nearly 54,000 national contributors, including over 6,500 wounded soldiers, 56 heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, more than 2,400 Agent Orange/dioxin victims, and around 600 individuals prisoned by the enemy.
Speaking at the meeting, General Can presented them with gifts, inquired after them and briefed them on the whole military’s activities, especially the outcomes of gratitude work over the past time.
Accordingly, since 2013, the whole military units have built over 8,600 gratitude houses, handed over more than 6.400 savings books, taken care of nearly 2,900 heroic Vietnamese mothers, and supported needy convalescent centers for wounded soldiers, with the total cost of VND 810 billion.
This year alone, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27, 1947-2022), the whole military launched an emulation movement to pay gratitude to national contributors, gave financial support to build 1,769 houses, presented 806 savings books to policy people and national contributors, and provided free health check-ups and medicines for over 13,000 people, to name but a few.

Meanwhile, units sewed silk ensembles and gave gifts to 1,489 heroic Vietnamese mothers who are being cared for by the military and provided medical equipment for five convalescent centers for those who rendered good service to the nation.
