General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), attended the event.
In his speech, the center’s Director Major General Pham Van Tu recalled the launch of the People’s Army Radio Program on the Voice of Vietnam on March 16, 1959, becoming the “spoken newspaper” of the armed forces and accompanying the nation throughout wartime as well as in the cause of national construction and defense.

On September 20, 1975, the People’s Army Television Program was officially broadcast on the Vietnam Television, marking a new stage in the development of military journalism in television broadcasting. In response to the new requirements of Vietnam’s revolutionary press and the military and national defense missions in the new era, on May 19, 2011, the birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the Military Broadcasting Center was established.
Over the past 15 years, the center has maintained its political orientation, closely covered military and defense tasks, promptly reflected the leadership and direction activities of the Party, the State, the CMC, and the Ministry of National Defense, and promoted dissemination of the building of a whole-people’s defense posture and a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Vietnam People’s Army, among others.

Addressing the ceremony, Gen. Nghia praised the center for its achievements. Noting new requirements of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, the military press, and the center, Gen. Nghia stressed the need to strictly uphold the principles of Vietnam’s revolutionary press. He called on cadres, reporters, and editors to firmly grasp the Party’s guidelines and ensure that all journalistic products maintain proper political orientation and serve the people and the revolutionary cause.
The GDP’s chief emphasized building the center into a professional, humane, and modern media agency, including development of the project on a “National strategic backup digital terrestrial broadcasting network,” building the center into a key multilateral media agency of the military and nation, and the Vietnam National Defense Television Channel into a strategic national backup channel.

He also called for stronger innovation, digital transformation, and greater application of science, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital data in media production and distribution.
Emphasizing the key role of personnel, Gen. Nghia urged the center to build a contingent of cadres, reporters, editors, news anchors, announcers, technicians with firm political stance, high sense of responsibility, morality, professional expertise, sharp thinking and vanguard in cultural and ideological front.
The center was also tasked with strengthening coordination with media and press agencies and military and civilian agencies an units to promote good image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers while actively countering hostile and wrongful information.
At the ceremony, authorized by the State President, General Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the Third-class Fatherland Protection Order to the Military Broadcasting Center for its outstanding accomplishments in communications on military and defense tasks, the military, and major political events of the Party and the nation.
