Units asked to ensure good combat readiness in new period
PANO - On May 13, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister, chaired a conference to adopt the draft directive on combat readiness for the Vietnam People’s Army and militia and self-defense forces, as well as the directive on stockpiling ammunition, materials, and logistics equipment for combat readiness missions.

The conference was attended by Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff, including Senior Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc, and Lieutenant General Le Van Huong.
After listening to opinions presented at the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized that combat readiness is a central and regular task of the entire military. Therefore, agencies and units must fully absorb the feedback, thoroughly review, and update new contents to ensure that the issued directives closely follow the practical situation, feature high feasibility, and meet requirements of national defense in the new situation.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested the General Department of Logistics and Technical Services to direct and guide agencies and units to strictly implement regulations on management, preservation, maintenance, repair, production, and assurance of ammunition, materials, and logistics equipment for combat readiness tasks.

Meanwhile, the General Department of Defense Industry, Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), and relevant units were urged to carry out tasks regarding the research and production of defense products.
Based on the provisions of the directive after its promulgation and the guidance of functional agencies, units across the military should conduct practical reviews, then synthesize, report, and propose to the Defense Ministry their requirements for combat readiness missions in the coming time.
