Military boosts activities on women advancement and gender equality
PANO - The Board of the Advancement of Servicewomen under the Ministry of National Defense on September 20 held a mid-term conference to review the implementation of the Action Plan for servicewomen's advancement and gender equality in the 2016-2020 period.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, who is Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Servicewomen, with the attendance of Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Vietnam People's Army and Vice-head of the committee.
Speaking at the event, Gen. Chiem hailed the achievements of individuals and units and asked them to continue implementing well the instructions and resolutions of the Party, State and the Central Military Commission on military women and gender equality affairs.
The committee should also devise specific measures, direct its affiliates to well implement the action program, harmonize objectives of the program with the missions of agencies and units, build a contingent of professional female cadres and raise the ratio of female cadres in the Party Committees at all levels for the 2020-2025 term.
To meet this end, affiliates of the Board for the Advancement of Servicewomen at all levels should further renovate methods and forms of their activities while promoting their important roles and effectively advising the Party committees and commands on military women and gender equality affairs.
