At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of the Department of Military Medicine under the General Department of Logistics, informed the attendees that the country has effectively controlled tge COVID-19 so far while no COVID-19 cases have been reported in the military.
However, Gen. Kien also alerted the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak and spread in military units because of more people being quarantined, the increasing number of infected cases with no symptoms, and a longer incubation period.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard, emphasized the good control of the COVID-19 by the border troops at border gates and trails. Chien added that the military has been expanding concentrated quarantine areas to receive more Vietnamese expats returning home from Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. He also added that military regions 4, 5, 7 and 9 are now able to quarantine hundreds of additional people.
Apart from drastic preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, the military has also enhanced defense relations and international cooperation to make the disease control efforts more effective.
Addressing the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, highly valued the close coordination among relevant military and civilian units and agencies. He also laid stress on the solidarity and high determination of troops in avoiding the spread of the disease in the military and assisting locals in controlling the pandemic.
Gen. Van also asked Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels to grasp troops' thoughts, especially those in the front-line, and properly reward those with good task performance.
The political chief also highly appreciated military press agencies for their timely and accurate information about the COVID-19 and about role models in the fight against the pandemic, as well as their handling of fake news.
In his closing speech, Gen. Don hailed troops for their achievements in COVID-19 prevention and asked them to continue their tasks with high resolve.
Gen. Don hoped that the military will better the COVID-19 prevention work in the coming time to prevent the disease from spreading in military units.
The Deputy Defense Minister also believed that the military will outstandingly perform the COVID-19 containment task to deserve the trust of the Party, State and people.
