Present at the event were Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Commander of Military Region 1 (MR1) Major General Nguyen Hong Thai, Political Commissar of MR1 Lieutenant General Duong Dinh Thong, and representatives from the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Ministry of National Defense’s affiliated units.

Addressing the event, General Thai underlined the importance of the exercise, contributing to evaluating leadership of local Party committees, authorities, and relevant agencies at all levels as well as military unit’s capabilities in making recommendations to higher levels.

After the exercise, all units in the area should draw lessons to better their combat plans in line with reality, making contributions to performing all assigned military-defense missions, he added.

The exercise aims to raise the awareness of the leadership at all levels, armed forces and  local people of the importance of implementing local defense-military tasks, while strengthening the whole people's defense posture in the province.

The exercise takes place from November 14 to 17.
