At the event, authorized by the State President, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long handed over the title to Lieutenant General Dong Sy Nguyen’s family.

Comrade Dong Sy Nguyen, whose birth name is Nguyen Huu Vu, was born on March 1, 1923 in a family with revolutionary tradition in Quang Trung commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province. He began his revolutionary career in 1938 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in December 1939.

During his more than 80 years of revolutionary cause, he held many important positions, including member of the Politburo, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Construction, Minister of Transportation, Deputy Defense Minister, and Commander of Command 559 - Truong Son Command. He actively participated in various fields, ranging from politics, military, economics, foreign affairs, among others.

In any positions, comrade Dong Sy Nguyen left a profound mark, embodying the qualities of a talented, resilient, and virtuous communist. Notably, during nearly 10 years as Commander of Command 559 - Truong Son Command, he and his comrades directed nine divisions and 21 regiments to successfully fulfill assigned tasks, making him the legendary Commander of Truong Son Command.

With his great contribution to the revolutionary cause, he was honored with the Gold Star Order, the first-class Military Exploit Order, the 80-year Party membership badge, and many other noble orders and medals.
