Since early 2025, the GDDI has implemented the Party and the Central Military Commission’s resolutions on breakthrough development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Weapons and equipment R&D has shifted toward integrated, high-tech, modern systems, achieving notable progress. In addition, institutional bottlenecks have been gradually solved.

In 2025, the GDDI carried out nearly 200 projects, including national- and defense ministerial-level ones, with about 50 projects completed. Forty-six initiatives won Military Creative Youth Awards. Investment in key projects has been accelerated; enterprises mobilized capital for defense-economic projects; revenue rose by 18.9% year-on-year, with average monthly income reaching VND 22.4 million.

International cooperation and trade promotion have expanded. Organizational, logistics, financial, and digital transformation efforts have delivered positive results while workers’ living standards were improved.

In his concluding speech, Minister Giang praised the GDDI’s task performance and stressed the Defense Ministry’s 2026 theme of pro-activeness, innovation, and determination to develop modern weapons and equipment. He called for strict implementation of Party chief To Lam’s key directives, acceleration of a self-reliant, modern, dual-use defense industry, and improvement of strategic advisory capacity.

He urged the GDDI to make breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation; enhance efficiency in weapon R&D and prototyping, and prioritize development of modern, smart weapons and equipment aligned with urgent demands.

The GDDI was requested to speed up key projects, build specialized centers, streamline its structure, reorganize enterprises, and apply modern governance. Production planning must align with defense tasks, ensuring quality and progress while mobilizing resources to boost output and combat capability.

The defense chief also emphasized strengthening diplomacy, international cooperation, preparing for the Vietnam Defense Expo 2026, building strong Party organizations, attracting talents, training personnel, and ensuring internal security and military secrecy.
