General Staff reviews its work in first half of this year
PANO – The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army held a meeting on June 25 under the chair of its Chief Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang to review the military’s implementation of defense and military missions in the first half of this year and map out working plans for the rest of the year.
Reports at the meeting highlighted that the General Staff has directed agencies and units to overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and fulfill their military-defense tasks.

For the second half, defense agencies and military units were all asked to seriously maintain combat readiness, provide timely advice for higher levels to promptly deal with unexpected situations, and firmly protect national sovereignty over the seas and islands.
Addressing the event, General Giang acknowledged and praised the achievements of defense agencies and military units in implementing their military and defense missions, and pointed out shortcomings in the staff work of some agencies and units over the past time.
He urged all agencies and units to continue implementing military-defense missions, maintaining combat readiness, and safeguarding major events in the country in the time to come.
