At the conference of the GDP’s Board of Directors to introduce candidate for the 16th N.A., General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and Director of the GDP, attended the conference. Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the GDP, presided over the conference.

At the event, Gen. Minh thoroughly briefed the delegates on the purpose and requirements; and announced the structure, composition, standards, and the number of personnel allocated to the GDP Organ as candidates for the 16th N.A. After the briefing, the conference discussed and voted, expressing high consensus to introduce General Nguyen Trong Nghia to run for the 16th N.A. with a 100% rate.

Subsequently, on the afternoon of the same day, the Office of the GDP organized a conference to collect opinions from voters at the workplace regarding the candidate for the 16th N.A. The conference was attended by Gen. Nghia, Gen. Minh, and a large number of voters who are leaders, commanders, officers, employees, and soldiers of the GDP Office.

At the conference, delegates listened to Major General Do Van Dao, Chief of the GDP Office, who presided over the conference, introduce the purpose and requirements; the list of candidate consisting of one comrade, General Nguyen Trong Nghia; and announced the criteria for N.A. deputies and cases ineligible for candidacy. Next, the conference secretary read the brief biography of General Nguyen Trong Nghia for voters to contribute their opinions.

Opinions expressed at the conference unanimously affirmed: General Nguyen Trong Nghia has a clear political background and good health; a steadfast and firm political stance; and resolutely fight against wrongful views. He is always exemplary in moral qualities and lifestyle; has high prestige within the Party, the people, and the armed forces; is a high-ranking official of the Party, State, and military; and has rich and profound practical work experience. He has directed and managed Party and political work with many innovations, creativity, comprehensiveness, and effectiveness, contributing to building a typically healthy and strong Military Party Organization and a politically strong military; he possesses a scientific, close, concrete, prudent, and highly principled working method; always cares for the material and spiritual life of officers, employees, and soldiers and builds a contingent of cadres at all levels to meet mission requirements.

Along with that, Gen. Nghia always strictly adheres to the principles of Party organization and activities; builds solidarity and unity within the Standing Board of the CMC and the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense; upholds self-criticism and criticism; and respects and accepts contribution from the collective and subordinates. Regardless of his position or responsibility, both inside and outside the military, he always successfully completes tasks; has been awarded many noble orders and rewards by the Party, State, and military, and is trusted and credited by the people and subordinates.

At the conference, 100% of delegates voted to introduce General Nguyen Trong Nghia to run for the 16th N.A.

In his speech, General Nguyen Trong Nghia respectfully thanked the sentiments and sincere contribution of the voters; at the same time affirming that the GDP is a place attached to many special, unforgettable memories in his military life, and is also a precious environment that helped him mature and achieve the development steps he has today. He affirmed that he would continue to strive ceaselessly, and successfully complete assigned tasks in all situations and positions, deserving the trust and affection of the officers, employees, and soldiers of the GDP in particular, the entire military in general, and the people.

Major General Tran Tuan Hung, Chief of the Office of the General Staff, presided over the conference.

Opinions expressed at the conference unanimously affirmed that comrade Nguyen Tan Cuong has been properly trained, is matured in combat reality, and always upholds responsibility in study and work. His political background is clean and clear, his revolutionary moral qualities are pure. He has an honest and modest lifestyle; a democratic and frank working style. His words match actions. He resolutely fights against corruption, bureaucracy, opportunism, and self-interest. He always respects and listens to opinions of the collective and subordinates, is close to and cares for the material and spiritual life of officers, soldiers, and the military rear. As a capable and highly prestigious officer, he has been assigned and entrusted with many important positions by the Party, State, and military. Wherever he is, in whatever circumstances, he strives to contribute, is ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

In his position as member of the Party Central Committee, Standing member of the CMC, Chief of the General Staff, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, Gen. Cuong always thoroughly grasps and firmly understands the Party’s guidelines and viewpoints, military and defense tasks, together with the collective of the CMC, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, and leaders of the General Staff to propose and report to the Party and State leadership many major guidelines, policies, and strategic solutions to firmly protect the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland. He directs the construction of a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military; the building of a powerful reserve force and a strong, widespread militia and self-defense force, meeting the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

In his position as an N.A. deputy, General Nguyen Tan Cuong always promotes his role and responsibility well, fully participates in sessions and plenary meetings of the N.A.; actively discusses, contributing many enthusiastic and responsible opinions, and exercises the right to vote on issues within the tasks and powers of an N.A. deputy; always maintains close contact with voters, regularly meeting, listens to, and grasps voters’ opinions and aspirations to report to the N.A. and transfer to competent agencies and organizations for effective and thorough consideration and handling.

Respectfully thanking the sentiments and trust of the voters, officers, and soldiers of the Office of the General Staff, General Nguyen Tan Cuong considered this both an honor and a personal responsibility before voters nationwide as well as voters who are officers and soldiers in the military. He emphasized that he would continue to promote a sense of responsibility, perform well the role of an elected representative; spend much time meeting and contacting voters; listening to and synthesizing voters’ opinions and aspirations, proposing to functional agencies to resolve them promptly and effectively.
