Present at the event was Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister. and Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang and Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan.

Since its establishment, following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, the department has tried its utmost to conduct assigned tasks, making considerable contribution to the national resistance wars against foreign invaders and the national cause of construction and defense.

Over the past years, the department has successfully completed missions and received a numbers of noble certificates and orders from higher levels.

In his speech, General Cuong highly valued and appreciated the department’s achievements so far. At the same time, the general asked the unit to further raise its political stance and competence to deserve to be one of the major forces of defense intelligence sector.

Meanwhile, General Cuong underlined that the department should be built to become a revolutionary, regular, elite, gradually-modernized force to fulfill all assigned tasks in any circumstance.

During the event, authorized by the State President, General Cuong handed over the First-class Fatherland Protection Order to the department.
