At the opening of the conference, GDP Deputy Director Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau delivered a report to review the implementation of the Party and political work in the first six months of 2023, underlining that the whole military directed the units and agencies to effectively and comprehensively implement the Party and political work in line with their task requirements.
Attentively, the GDP upheld its advisory role and directed the whole military to strictly implement the Party’s resolutions, directives, and regulations while promoting political and ideological education and information dissemination; orientating public opinion; actively protecting the Party’s ideological foundation; and fighting against wrongful and hostile views.
Meanwhile, the GDP intensified supervision to eliminate shortcomings and settle the remaining issues in a timely manner; gave recommendations to higher levels to propose new regulations on personnel work; as well as effectively carried out internal security, mass mobilization, policies, and social and health insurance work for its troops.
Defense external affairs in Party and political work were pro-actively implemented in accordance with the Party’s political orientation while political and ideological education for troops was maintained, thereby officers and soldiers in the whole military have had a firm political stance and always shown their high determination to receive and accomplish all assigned missions, contributing to brightening the good virtues of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the outcomes and shortcomings in conducting the Party and political work in the first half of this year. They also proposed measures to raise the quality and efficiency of the work in the coming time.
Addressing the conference, Gen. Cuong praised the achievements obtained by the agencies and units in the first half of this year. Pointing out key tasks in the next six months, Gen. Cuong required the agencies and units in the whole military to further improve its forecasting and evaluating capacity, and provide more strategic advice to the Party and State on military and defense affairs to deal with arising issues in a timely manner.
The whole military should renew methods to improve the quality and efficiency of political and ideological education and actively foster skills to address issues arising in reality for troops to maintain the units’ stability while pro-actively implementing plans to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7), the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, and the 35th anniversary of the All-People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22).
Regarding the building of the Military Party Organization, Gen. Cuong noted that the agencies and units should concentrate on raising the comprehensive leadership capacity and combat strength of Party committees and Party organizations at all levels, improving the quality of Party members, and promoting training work for troops in the “Dare to think, dare to speak, dare to act, dare to take responsibility, dare to innovate, dare to face difficulties, and dare to sacrifice for the common interests” spirit of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
In addition, they should pay more attention to policies for troops and their relatives and policies on social and health insurance.

The GDP Director also asked the agencies and units to focus on building strong mass organizations and make thorough preparations for the 10th Military Trade Union Congress for the 2023-2028 tenure.
Units in the whole military are to further innovate to increase the quality and efficiency of the Party and political work and heighten their responsibility to successfully reach the set targets in the last six months of this year.
