The conference affirmed that one of the notable outcomes that Dong Thap province has achieved in actualizing the resolution is the close and effective combination of socio-economic development and defense and security consolidation. 

Over the past time, the planning, urban construction, and production development have been closely associated with the building, consolidation, and enhancement of national defense potential. The province has built 54 clusters and 50 residential areas along the borderline, contributing to stabilizing people's lives and consolidating the defensive posture.

The province has invested in building and consolidating rear bases and dual-use works, especially arterial traffic routes connected to highways, systems of connected district and rural roads, bridges with a load capacity of up to 30 tons, system of waterways, ferry terminals, and passenger stations which are convenient for goods trade and national defense and security consolidation.

In addition, agricultural and industrial projects are closely linked to national defense tasks, meeting the demand for food of the armed forces and civil servants who perform national defense duties.
