Authorized by the State President, Lieutenant General Dao Tuan Anh presents the Second-class Fatherland Protection Order to Division 320.

On January 16, 1951, to meet the urgent demands of the resistance war against the French colonialists in the Northern battlefield, Dong Bang Division – Division 320 (the predecessor of today’s Division 320 of Army Corps 34) was established. As one of the first six regular divisions of the Vietnam People’s Army, its formation marked a new stage in the development of the revolutionary armed forces. Shortly after its foundation, the division achieved its first victory of eliminating nine enemy outpost within just one night in Bac Son Tay Spring Campaign, opening a glorious chapter in its heroic tradition.

Over the past 75 years, under the motto of “fighting while building up forces, deploying whatever available troops, using whatever available weapons, turning captured enemy weapons against the enemy,” Division 320 has participated in thousands of large and small battles nationwide and performed international duties.

In recent years, the Division has focused on building a politically-strong unit with enhanced synergy and combat strength. For many consecutive years, it has been recognized by the Ministry of National Defense as an Excellent Training Unit and has received numerous commendations.

In his speech, Head of the Division Senior Colonel Nguyen Trung Hieu expressed gratitude to fallen heroes and generations of the unit’s officers and soldiers, the leadership of former Army Corps 3, present Army Corps 34, and local Party committees, authorities, and people.

Addressing the ceremony, Lieutenant General Dao Tuan Anh praised the unit for its outstanding achievements gained over the past 75 years, and urged the Division to continue upholding its tradition of “Unity - Discipline - Courage - Victory,” striving to be awarded the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces for the third time, and to further enhance its overall strength and combat readiness.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Dao Tuan Anh and delegates laid flowers and offered incense at the Division 320 Memorial House for Heroic Martyrs.
