Born and raised in a coastal rural area that still faces many difficulties, Minh and Thai became accustomed to independence at an early age.
After graduating from high school, both went to work in Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province to help support their family.

When the locality issued the call for military service medical examinations, the two brothers jointly wrote petitions and were subsequently selected.
Duong Tan Minh excitedly shared, “We want to challenge ourselves in the military environment, to be trained in discipline and willpower, and to make a small contribution to safeguarding the Fatherland.”
Duong Tan Thai affirmed, “Turning 18 happens only once. I want my youth to be truly meaningful. The decision to enlist is not only a citizen’s responsibility, but also an opportunity for personal growth.”
Upon receiving their admission results, the brothers immediately arranged their work in Nha Trang to return home. The family atmosphere was both proud and emotional. Their mother quietly prepared each set of clothes, reminding her sons to maintain good health, unite with comrades, and strictly observe unit discipline. Their relatives and neighbors came to visit, encourage them, and place their trust in the two young men.

Wearing their newly-provided military uniforms, Minh and Thai could not hide their emotion. The image of the twin brothers standing side by side in the military uniform became a memorable moment for their family and the local community. It is not only their personal pride, but also evidence of the vanguard spirit and sense of responsibility of today’s youth in Tu Bong commune.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Hoat, Head of the Tu Bong Commune Military Command under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, the voluntary enlistment of the twin brothers has created a positive ripple effect among local youth. The story of Minh and Thai has added another bright highlight to this year’s recruitment work, reflecting the increasingly heightened awareness and responsibility of the younger generation.

Before departing for their military service, Duong Tan Minh and Duong Tan Thai shared a common pledge of striving in study and training, successfully accomplishing all assigned tasks, and being worthy of the trust placed in them by their family and hometown.
At the age of 18, Minh and Thai have chosen a special beginning. They start their journey to maturity with responsibility, pride, and the aspiration to contribute.
