This year, the province’s armed forces are determined to continue renewing and making breakthroughs in training tasks. At the event, the command also launched an emulation movement to welcome the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term, and the 136th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.
In his remarks, Gen. Cuong praised the obtained outcomes of the province’s armed forces over the past year. He emphasized that the forces should effectively implement the resolutions of the Central Military Commission and Party committees at all levels on raising the training quality for the 2025-2030 period and the following years.
The Party Committees and chains-of-command at all levels should maintain education on political tasks of the military in the new situation; clarify training directions, concrete tasks and targets; and raise the awareness of officers and soldiers about the significance and responsibilities of training and combat readiness. Attention should be given to organizing refresher courses, training, and programs to comprehensively enhance the quality of the contingent of officers, among others.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong presents the certificate recognizing the Dong Thap provincial Military Command as a comprehensively strong, “typical and exemplary” unit. |
The GS chief noted that Military Region 9 has its own distinct characteristics, particularly its riverine terrain. Therefore, troops must be thoroughly trained to master combat skills in river and water-based environments, as well as proficiently use all types of weapons and equipment.
Emphasis should be placed on training under conditions where the enemy employs high-tech weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles, to name but a few.
The general underlined that the task of building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military requires training to be renewed and enhanced. Therefore, it is necessary to intensify night, maneuver, and scenario-based training to ensure that troops possess enduring strength to conduct long-duration maneuvers under all conditions, terrain, and weather.
Political and ideological education must be strengthened to create new development in compliance with military regulations, building regularity, discipline management, and developing comprehensively strong and “exemplary and typical” units.
