At the event, General Vinh briefed the participants on the military’s performance of and achievements in international cooperation and defense diplomacy in the current period.

General Vinh spoke highly of the effective defense cooperation activities, such as mine clearance, relief of consequences of toxic chemicals left behind from the war, and participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
“Vietnam will continue to promote defense diplomacy and international integration in terms of defense in an active, proactive, comprehensive manner in line with the country’s capacity and the region’s and world’s trends,” confirmed General Vinh.
The Deputy Defense Minister asked the diplomats to work closely with functional agencies under the MND to conduct more defense diplomacy activities in the host countries, during which the participants will be provided with Vietnam’s policies on national defense, international integration, and defense relations. Through these activities, Vietnam expects to popularize the image of the Vietnam People’s Army among international friends, win more support from countries worldwide, contributing to safeguarding national sovereignty.

In his speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Minh Khoi highly valued the effective coordination between the Foreign Ministry and the MND in the past time. He said that the meeting would help enhance the two ministries’ cooperation in the time ahead, as well as create a good foundation for the future close ties between Vietnam’s overseas representative agencies and Vietnam’s military agencies abroad.
During the meeting, Vietnamese diplomats shared experience in coordination with Vietnam’s military agencies in foreign countries and suggested the MND, and other related MND affiliates to give orientations on furthering defense diplomacy in the host countries.
Acknowledging the diplomats’ opinions on promoting defense diplomacy, General Vinh congratulated heads of Vietnam’s overseas representative agencies on their new appointments and expressed his belief that they would make more contributions to boosting defense relations.
