Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai reported that in 2023 and the first two months of this year, the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels of the Vietnam Border Guard embraced directions of the CMC and Ministry of National Defense (MND), closely followed border-related situations and reality of the border work implementation. The whole border guard force stayed united, pro-actively and creatively completed all assigned missions and the building of a politically-, ideologically-, organizationally-strong Party organization was carried out actively and effectively.

On behalf of the CMC and the MND, General Phan Van Giang applauded the border guard force for their attainments over the past time.
Regarding the coming missions, the defense chief asked the command’s Party Committee and Chain-of-Command to exert more efforts, promote sense of responsibility, thoroughly grasp higher levels’ guidelines, documents and resolutions, particularly the resolution on Fatherland protection strategy in the new situation, and give recommendations to the CMC and MND to firmly manage and defend border sovereignty and security.
Noting that the border guard force must be a key force in safeguarding the national border sovereignty and security, Gen. Giang requested them to improve training quality based on their duties in different localities.
He underlined that each border guard officer and soldier should have a good command of the languages of ethnic minority groups in the stationed areas and of the people living in the other side of the borderline so that they could be bright examples in all aspects in border areas.
The leader of the defense force urged border guards to enhance application of information technology, conduct administrative reform, promote digital transformation, improve the quality of immigration management and control and contribute to preventing and ending illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, as well as bolster close coordination with local authorities and functional forces.
