At the reception, Maj. Gen. Som Tola briefed the host on Cambodia’s situation over the past time. He expressed his delight at the fruitful cooperation in different fields between the armed forces units and authorities of the two provinces. He took the chance to express thanks to the Vietnamese Party, government and people for their great support in overthrowing the Pol Pot genocidal regime in 1979 and in fighting COVID-19 and others.

The Cambodian general hoped that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to support each other spiritually and materially; strengthen exchange and cooperation to fight against crimes, particularly drug trafficking and human smuggling, creating a stable environment for people living along both sides of the shared borderline to live, work and develop economy.

On the occasion of the lunar New Year, Maj. Gen. Som Tola wished all officers and soldiers of An Giang provincial Border Guard Command and their families good health, happiness, and hoped the command to victoriously complete their duties in 2024.

In his speech, Senior Colonel Tran Quoc Khanh, Commanding Officer of the An Giang provincial Border Guard Command, thanked the guests for their pre-Tet visit and Tet greetings.

He informed the Cambodian mission of the task implementation of the unit in 2023 and hoped that the two units will further their coordination in managing and protecting territorial sovereignty, national border security, combating crimes of all kinds, contributing to building a borderline of peace, friendship and development.
