Speaking at the working session, General Phan Van Giang highly valued the unit’s efforts in implementing their assigned missions, particularly providing timely recommendations for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on building a self-reliance, dual-use, and modern defense industry; effectively implementing projects; enhancing scientific and technological application; mastering core technologies; and manufaturing new weapons and equipment.

In addition, the general department has combined defense missions and economic activities, contributing to serving the people’s life and the national modernization and industrialization.

The unit also collaborated well with relevant agencies to successfully organize the first Vietnam International Defense Expo in 2022, contributing to opening up more cooperation opportunities for defense industry. In addition, the unit actively gave recommendations to higher levels to issue and implement resolutions on developing the defense industry towards 2023 and the following years.

Regarding the unit’s upcoming tasks, General Phan Van Giang required the general department to continue providing timely advice for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to effectively carry out Resolution No.08-NQ/TW of the Politburo and other programs on defense industry development.

He noted that the General Department of Defense Industry should actively bring into play its strength, invest in facilities, and enhance manufacturing to better serve the needs of the economy and military-defense missions.

He requested the unit to accelerate digital transformation, build product brands and enterprises with strong capacity profiles to participate in major national programs and projects, boost international cooperation, effectively organize trade promotion, popularization and exports of industrial products, contributing to meeting the task requirements in the current context.
