During the session, delegates were briefed on the organ’s task performance in 2022. Accordingly, the GDP embraced resolutions of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Central Military Commission on military-defense tasks, and led its task performance comprehensively and better than 2021.

The GDP provided recommendations for higher levels to build clean and firm Party organizations and a strong military in term of political affairs. The organ actively renewed and accelerated political and ideological education for troops, contributing to building firm stance for them and fighting against wrongful viewpoints of hostile forces.
The organ also completed all assigned tasks while promoting stability, internal solidarity and unity among affiliated units.
Speaking at the working session, General Phan Van Giang acknowledged and praised outcomes of the GDP over the past year, and at the same time affirmed that these results contributed to the task accomplishment of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.
Regarding the 2023 tasks, General Phan Van Giang stressed that the GDP should continue to embrace resolutions on military-defense missions and the military Party organization building, provide timely advice for the Central Military Commission to direct relevant units to implement solutions on building a strong military in terms of politics, promote effectiveness of the political education and ideological leadership in the military. He urged the organ to well implement the 2023 “determined-to-win” emulation drive in combination with the patriotic emulation movements, the plans for the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th anniversary of the Whole-people's Defense Festive Day, and the 80th founding anniversary of the GDP.
In addition, the defense minister required the GDP to direct military press agencies to enhance information dissemination about military-defense tasks, the whole-people’s defense posture building, the military’s functions in the peacetime, and outstanding examples in the military.

General Phan Van Giang required the GDP to review outcomes of the action plans for resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress and the 11th Military Party Congress, the working programs of the Central Military Commission and its standing board, thus to build concrete measures to implement.
He asked the GDP to increase the quality and efficiency of inspection, supervision and enforcement of the Party disciplines, with a focus on addressing shortcomings and violations, while actively and closely coordinate with law enforcement agencies in detecting early signs of violations by Party organizations and members, ensuring interests and policies for forces with special missions.
