At the working session, GDL Director Lieutenant General Tran Duy Giang reported that last year, the military logistics sector surmounted difficulties, gave recommendations to higher levels, directed the comprehensive and effective implementation of all working aspects, contributing to the whole military’s achievements in military and defense duties.

The year 2023 is the first year the Central Military Commission’s Resolution 1658-NQ/QUTW on military logistics affairs by 2030 and the subsequent years is realized; therefore, the GDL is determined to seriously organize personnel, pro-actively overcome difficulties, promote innovation, improve quality of all aspects and complete the logistics tasks with higher results than previous year.

In his speech, General Phan Van Giang applauded the GDL’s Party committee, chain-of-command, and the military logistics sector for their task accomplishments in 2022 and the guarantee of logistics supplies for troops to welcome the 2023 lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, and for the reception of new recruits.

While pointing out shortcomings that the GDL and military logistics sector need to fix soon, the defense chief asked the GDL to continue to observe logistics-related regulations, pro-actively make forecast of impacts on the logistics affairs, give advice and direction to ensure logistics supplies for training and combat readiness missions. It was also asked to actively prepare forces, vehicles, logistics supplies for unscheduled missions, disaster prevention, handling of non-traditional security challenges, and search and rescue activities.

Defense Minister Phan Van Giang urged the agency to speed up the building and assurance of logistics for defensive areas, propose research and development of theories and methods of ensuring logistics for protection of sea, islands, and the struggle to defend the Fatherland in the new situation, and improve quality of contingents of personnel at all levels.

The military logistics sector was requested to synchronously and effectively implement measures to prevent diseases; improve the capacity of the preventive medicine system; strengthen the management and quality of medical examination and treatment, and ensure good health conditions of troops; and effectively combine military-civil medicine.

Together with good application of science and technology, digital transformation, assurance of cyber security, the military logistics sector should also carry out projects and programs approved and promote the emulation movement “Military logistics sector follows President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings” in a more creative, effective, and practical manner.
