General Giang inquiring after national contributors at the Thai Nguyen provincial convalescent center |
General Giang confirmed that the Party, State, and military have always paid due attention to the gratitude work for wounded and sick soldiers, families of fallen troops, and national contributors.
He spoke highly of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense’s advice to the Party and State to issue and implement a range of big policies for the military and troops’ families and clear backlogs.
The defense minister informed that since 2012, nearly 18,000 sets of remains of fallen troops have been gathered and repatriated.
He also named a large number of military-launched meaningful and practical activities, such as building gratitude houses, providing medical supplies for convalescent centers, lunar New Year festivals in border areas, border guards sponsoring needy students, coast guards supporting fishermen, among others.
General Giang emphasized that the aforementioned activities manifested the traditions of a revolutionary military, the faithfulness and comradeship to those who laid down their lives and contributed to national independence and freedom and the people’s happiness. These have helped educate troops, especially young ones of the national tradition of “when drinking water, remember its source.”
At the event, the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense presented medical and other specialized equipment to the center, which yearly cares for 1,500 to 2,500 national contributors to better the care for wounded and sick soldiers and national contributors. Those under care at the center also received gifts as a token of gratitude for their contribution to the national salvation and protection cause.
General Giang also wished the center’s leaders, cadres, and workers health and solidarity to build a strong center – a warm house for wounded, sick soldiers, and national contributors.
