After hearing reports on the situation nationwide and within the military over the past days, General Phan Van Giang hailed the GS, GDP, and functional units, especially forces on duty during Tet on safeguarding the national sovereignty in border areas and over sea and islands. The military not only ensured combat readiness, but also helped people in remote areas to celebrate Tet safely and joyfully. With the highest sense of responsibility, the whole military has successfully fulfilled their assigned tasks over the past days.

The defense minister emphasized that 2024 marked big events of the nation. The military successfully organized parades and ceremonies in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, as well as meaningful activities celebrating the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, 35th anniversary of the Whole-People Defense Festival, and the Vietnam Defense Expo 2024, leaving a deep impression on the people and international friends.

Regarding Tet missions, he requested the whole military to ensure strict combat readiness at all levels. The Ministry of National Defense sends delegations to pay Tet visits to key and remote regions, border, sea, and island units, including troops and islanders in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago and DK1 platforms. In addition, units enhance patrols to prevent illegal border crossings, while the naval, coast guard, and militia forces stay alert in strategic maritime areas.

Units in the whole military also organizes various activities together with local people to celebrate Tet, to name but a few.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Defense Ministry General Phan Van Giang highly valued the troops’ achievements in 2024, reminding them to strictly ensure combat readiness missions, welcome Tet while implementing assigned tasks in 2025.

Mentioning upcoming tasks, General Phan Van Giang urged the military to ensure thorough and scientific task implementation so as to achieve early success in the beginning of 2025. They should focus on key missions, such as ensuring combat readiness during Tet, ensuring a safe Tet celebration, and being ready in any circumstances. The military must also carefully prepare for recruitment as planned, conduct comprehensive training at all levels, and enhance the quality and effectiveness of training, education, and combat readiness to meet all task requirements.

Highlighting the significance of 2025 in achieving the goals of the 2020-2025 term, General Phan Van Giang asked the military to promote its heroic tradition to overcome difficulties in order to successfully fulfill all targets set by the 11th Military Party Congress and the military-defense leadership resolution in 2025, contributing to the cause of national protection and development.

* On the same day, the defense minister visited and extended Tet greetings to troops of Command 86. General Phan Van Giang praised unit’s efforts in maintaining strict combat readiness and being ready to address any arising issues on information security and cybersecurity.
