Defense leader works with Hai Phong Municipal Border Guard Command
PANO – Continuing his working visits to Northern military units, Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong inspected the task performance of the Hai Phong Municipal Border Guard Command on May 21.
During the visit, the leadership of the Municipal Border Guard Command briefed General Cuong on its military-defense missions over the past time. Accordingly, the unit has implemented their assigned tasks and mobilized comprehensive strengths of all forces to ensure political security and social order as well as firmly protecting national sovereignty over the seas and islands.
The unit will continuously maintain combat readiness, follow situational developments, and collaborate with relevant forces to implement higher levels’ resolutions on safeguarding national border security.
Speaking to the unit’s leadership, General Cuong acknowledged and praised their achievements in implementing border-related affairs and combat readiness missions over the past time. He urged them to continue providing timely advice for the local authorities to direct the implementation of military-defense tasks and safeguarding of national sovereignty over the seas, islands, land borderlines, and border gates at ports in the city.
The Deputy Minister also requested the unit to promote their defense external affairs, build border gates of peace and friendship, and help locals improve their living conditions.
In regard to COVID-19 prevention and control, General Cuong asked the unit’s Party committee and chain of command to strictly maintain regulations on disease prevention and control, monitor their stationed area, ensure concentrated quarantine for Vietnamese citizens returning from foreign countries, and raise troops’ and people’s awareness of the disease prevention measures.
