The event is co-chaired by Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang and Head of the PCC's Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh.

The conference focused on cooperation between the MND and the PCC’s Economic Commission in defense industry over the past time and mapped out solutions for the task implementation in the coming time. Accordingly, both sides worked closely to build the Defense Industry Law, develop the project “Industrialization and modernization guidelines and policies to 2030, with a vision to 2045,” and study defense industry organizational models. Especially, they also made recommendations to the Party and Government to mobilize all resources to further develop the sector.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh held that the PCC's Economic Commission and MND have actively coordinated in studying and proposing to the Politburo, Secretariat and the Government to issue policies on economy and defense, including those on building and developing the defense industry sector to serve the defense purposes and to promote the country’s socio-economy, contributing to the national industrialization and modernization cause.

He affirmed that the work plays an important role in safeguarding the Fatherland “early and from afar,” which requires the building of an independent and self-reliant defense industry sector. Therefore, both sides must work together in this field.

Concluding the conference, General Giang stressed that since the Coordination Regulation No.04 issued on December 10, 2014, the cooperation between the MND and the PCC's Economic Commission have been tightened, contributing to task performance of each side and defense industry development.

In the coming time, the defense minister noted that the two sides should focus on the effective implementation of Resolution No.08-NQ/TW of the Politburo issued on January 26, 2022 on promoting the development of the defense industry sector until 2030 and the following years; and on building the Defense Industry Law, especially defense industry organizational models.

He also underlined the necessity of building a modern defense industry sector to meet the demand of both national defense and socio-economic development, and to become a spearhead sector in the country’s industry. At the same time, the defense industry sector should cooperate with domestic and foreign clients as well as mobilize resources from other industries to perform their business better.
