Defense delegation visits Military Sports and Physical Training Center
PANO - A delegation, led by Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, on July 22 had a meeting with the Military Sports and Physical Training Center.
At the meeting, Colonel Ngo Ngoc Quang, Director of the Center, informed the delegation of the center's achievements in the first six months of 2020. In particular, the unit successfully organized the Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term. The center has also paid special attention to finance and logistic issues, thereby meeting the requirements of training and competition for athletes and coaches. They also strictly implemented all directives concerning COVID-19 prevention and control.
The center won 94 medals, including 36 gold, 25 silver, and 33 bronze medals in nine domestic competitions.
Addressing the event, General Tan acknowledged and praised the outstanding results of the center over the past years, especially in the first months of 2020. He asked all troops of the unit to continue to uphold their tradition, strengthen solidarity, and try their best to overcome difficulties.
The center’s sport teams were also requested to focus on their training programs and to participate in 35 assigned competitions, as well as prepare for international events in the coming time. They should also continue to promote training programs to select outstanding athletes.
General Tan went on to ask the center’s Board of Directors to pay attention to the athletes' needs.
Regarding the center’s recommendations and proposals, General Tan will assign relevant agencies to studying them and then reporting to the General Staff's leaders for considerations and decisions.
