The mission inspected the Dak Song Border Post of the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command and the Yok Don Border Post of the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command and was briefed on their task implementation last year, their plans on preventing crimes, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit before, during, and after the lunar New Year Festival (Tet) 2019 as well as their preparation for troops and local people to celebrate this Tet.

General Chiem, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the National Plan on Combat against Drug, Human Trafficking, Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit and on Practice of Thrift and Anti-wastefulness (Steering Committee 1389 in short) of the Ministry of National Defense, highly appreciated the achievements of the units in 2018. He praised the border guard units of the two provinces for close coordination in fighting illegal acts in border areas to build crime-free localities, contributing to ensuring political security and public order and facilitating local socio-economic development.

Regarding missions in the coming time, the Deputy Defense Minister asked the units’ troops to heighten vigilance and continue implementing resolutions, programs and plans on combating crimes, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit before, during, and after Tet. He urged the units to promote political and ideological education for troops and deal with violation of law and regulations.

Also at the meeting, General Chiem requested border guard and military units of the two provinces to hold a cozy and safe Tet for troops while maintaining combat readiness and work with the local leadership to help local policy beneficiaries and needy people have a happy Tet.

On the occasion, General Chiem presented gifts to troops of the Dak Lak and Dak Nong provincial Military and Border Guard Commands and inspected border posts.
