Cooperation agreement signed in sovereignty management and protection
PANO – On May 5, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the border guard commands of cities and provinces in Central Vietnam and Border Guard Flotilla 48 held a ceremony in Quang Nam province to ink a cooperation agreement in sovereignty management and protection as well as ensuring security and social order at sea.
The cooperation agreement aims to strengthen the leadership and directions, foster information exchange to thoroughly grasp situations related to sovereignty and political security protection as well as prevention and fight of crime and violations between the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the border guard forces of Da Nang city, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and Binh Dinh provinces, and Border Guard Flotilla 48.

Accordingly, the units will coordinate in implementing patrol, inspection, and control duties at sea while promoting prevention and fight against law violations and maritime crimes.

They will also work together to build plans on natural disaster prevention, search and rescue at sea, dealing with ship collisions, and overcoming issues related to the maritime environment.
Additionally, the units will boost mass mobilization activities, law dissemination for local people in border areas and on islands, as well as fishermen, to prevent IUU fishing in the areas.
