Consensus reached on Draft Law on Cybersecurity 2025

The event was co-chaired by Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense General Nguyen Tan Cuong and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Hung. Also in attendance were Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao and leaders of relevant agencies from both ministries.

At the conference, representatives of the Ministry of National Defense emphasized the necessity of promulgating the Law on Cybersecurity 2025, which aims to consolidate the Law on Network Information Security 2015 and the Law on Cybersecurity 2018 into a unified legal framework.

The new law is expected to better align with the realities of implementing cybersecurity and information security regulations. The ministry also proposed that the drafting agency continue to review, amend, and supplement 26 provisions within the draft law.

In addition, leaders from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security discussed and clarified issues concerning the authority and responsibilities of the Ministry of National Defense in managing and implementing cybersecurity protection measures for information systems under its jurisdiction.
