Conference reviews task performance in July

The request was made by Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong at a briefing on August 3 to review task performance in July.

Praising agencies and units for their efforts and determination over the past time, the Chief of the General Staff asked the whole military to propose measures to handle circumstances in an effective and timely manner to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and work with local forces to maintain political security and public order in localities across the country. He requested the enhancement of measures to end illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Agencies and units should organize training for various categories of troops as planned; promote the building of regularity; check and develop measures to ensure safety of ammunition depots; keep forces on standby mode to quickly respond to any circumstances; pay attention to the militia force building, external defense relations, investment and finance, military science, and military history, among others.

According to Director of the Department of Operations under the General Staff Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Can, in July, the whole military strictly observed combat readiness and closely followed situational developments, thus effectively handling all situations.

Director of the Department of Military Training Lieutenant General Thai Van Minh said that last month units conducted training, exercises, competitions, and festivals as planned.

Delegates affirmed that the whole military well conducted patrols and inspection to prevent illegal border exit and entry; controlled information in cyberspace; well managed ultra-light flying vehicles and UAV to handle circumstances as regulated; ensured technical services for training and combat readiness missions, competitions, and festivals; mobilized forces and vehicles to respond to natural disasters and conduct search and rescue operations in a timely manner.

Regarding missions in August, Gen. Minh said that apart from carrying out regular tasks, agencies and units will make preparations for and conduct exercises in accordance with actual situations and foster regularity building.
