The conference revealed that in the first half of the year, under the direction of the GS, the whole military well completed military and defense missions. Notably, agencies and units closely followed and accurately forecast developments of situations, especially in border areas, at sea, on islands, in key areas, and in cyberspace, to deal with circumstances in a timely and effective manner. They actively and pro-actively gave advice to higher levels on building strategic policies on national sovereignty over sea and islands.

In addition, the whole military strictly observed combat readiness regulations; well managed the air, sea, border areas, mainland, and cyberspace and firmly safeguarded national sovereignty; ensured security and public order in localities and during important events; organized training, contests, festivals, and exercises as regulated; mobilized 16,300 troops and militiamen and more than 1,000 vehicles to respond to natural disasters and conduct search and rescue operations. Especially, units mobilized forces, vehicles, and more than 30 tons of goods and equipment for the search and rescue mission in Turkey.

Speaking at the conference, Gen. Cuong lauded agencies and units in the whole military for their outstanding achievements in military and defense missions and asked them to continue to enhance the capability of forecasting and evaluating situational developments, thus making timely strategic advice to the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense to issue guidelines and policies to deal with circumstances, especially those occurring at sea, on islands, and in border and key areas.

He urged the whole military to continue to effectively carry out guidelines on combining defense and security consolidation and socio-economic development; well manage the air, sea, border areas, mainland, and cyberspace to firmly safeguard national sovereignty; develop plans to respond to possible circumstances at sea and on islands; intensify night and mobile training; and enhance troops’ mastery of weapons and technical equipment.

The GS’s chief requested military academies and schools to continue carrying out resolutions on education and training in the new situation. He also emphasized the need to take synchronous measures to raise the effectiveness of militia and self-defense work as well as military and defense affairs at different levels.

Since military and defense and national construction and defense mission in the last six month poses new requirements, Gen. Cuong requested the whole military to enhance responsibility, solidarity, pro-activeness, and creativeness to complete all missions in 2023 and the years to come.
