General Staff kicks off unarmed martial arts competition
PANO - The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on August 1 kicked off the unarmed martial arts competition for martial arts clubs in the whole military in 2023.
The competition attracts the participation of 504 martial arts practitioners from 41 martial arts clubs from units, military schools, provincial and municipal military commands.
During the competition, participating martial arts practitioners will compete in different age groups and weight classes following the sparring format. Male athletes will compete in nine weight classes, while female participants will compete in six weight classes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Bui Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Military Training under the General Staff, required relevant agencies and units to closely coordinate with each other to make thorough preparations in accordance with the set plan. Referees, coaches and athletes should strictly observe military discipline, the rules of the competition, and the regulations of the organizing panel.
The competition will run until August 11.
