Present at the event were members of the Standing Board of the CMC, including Director of the General Department of Political Affairs General Luong Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, and other members of the CMC and military delegates to the fifth meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee.

At the meeting, participants were briefed upon domestic, regional, and international situations that have had impacts on the country’s defense-military task performance and Fatherland protection cause over the past time. They were also informed of outstanding achievements in defense-military task implementation since early this year, and embraced preparation for the fifth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.

In his concluding speech, chair of the meeting General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the CMC and Minister of National Defense, asked CMC members and military delegates to the fifth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee to promote their responsibilities, stance, intelligence, set an example, and proactively engage in key issues defined in the agenda of the plenum.

The defense chief urged the delegates to show their strategic thinking, sensitivity, creativeness, closely follow specific qualities, functions and duties of the military to contribute opinions, make proposals and advice to the Party and the Government.

General Giang said that the military delegates’ suggestions will help affirm the prestige and position of the military and contribute to the success of the fifth meeting the 13th Party Central Committee.
